The individual right to keep and bear arms:
The right to defend one's self, family and neighbors from criminals.
To remove all temptaion from government power holders to attempt tyrany.

Abortion:
Nothing has divided America and poisened reasoned debate -- especially in the
appointment of judges -- more than this issue. Its time to drop the stupid binary
lables -- pro child/pro fetus is as stupid as pro choice/pro life.
The solution begins by noting that the question is:
When does a woman's single life with its individually endowed rights, become two
lives with separately endowed, and potentially conflicting, rights?
That point is a legal, not religious, definition (exactly like the difference between
killing and murdering). It defines when a second life exists for purposes of applying
American law. That choice is a legitimate role for govenment, and under the principles
declared for Ameican law by its founders, American law should be based on application
of Western Civilization's Age of Reason -- and not used to implement any religions
belief.
Note: Some founders were athiests who agreed on a Creator of the Universe because that term is
as consitent with the Principle Good of classical Ethics it is consistent with the God
of all the world's few true religions -- one dedicated to the imporvement of the human
condition, not the worship of comic book super hero's invented by people who are
ignorant of science to explain natural phenomena and then expolited by those who
succeed in claiming to be their priests.
All agree that Jesus Christ was a man of amazing wisdom [The only disagreement is
whether his father was God of another man.]. I read his teachings to say we should
leave to secular government that which is secular (i.e. Ceaser representing the laws
of men). And God alone will judge or enforce God's law.

Marriage
Human history documents that the defining the permanent union of one man and one woman
as the basis for orgainzing human beings, and then enforcing that convention on human
herds by naming it marriage and elevating it to the status of a religious sacrement,
was the single factor that advanced herds of humans close enough to civilized communities
to permit the devlopment of civilized governments.
The problem is that governments that came later coopeted marriage and used it to express
eligibility for a growing number of special deals -- can you name every law that uses
"marriage" to specifiy eligiblity for speical rights or money?
Note: Its exactly like government took the term "insurance" because of the respect
"Insurance Companies" earned during the Great Depression and used it in the name of
the Social Security System that bears no relationship to "insurance".
Given that the world's true religions created "marriage" before humans create
"governements", today's government's have no right to insult members of those religions
by fundamentally changing its defintion.
The solution is to return marriage to being a religious sacrement, and rewriting
American laws to specify the real reason for each law. .
